Dermaroller is a medical skin needling device that is rolled over the skin to create thousands of micro needle contacts. Following the procedure your skin will naturally regenerate and repair the skin working below the dermis. New collagen is formed and new skin cells generated resulting in smoother, brighter, healthier looking skin. The procedure has minimal down time and the treatments are recommended 6 weeks apart for a course of 3. Longer treatments may be necessary for stretch marks or significant scaring. Genuine Dermaroller is a sterile, medical grade procedure and will give far greater results than a lower level product that can be purchased for home or non medical use.
Genuine Dermaroller can be used to improve the following skin complaints:
Skin Rejuvenation
Acne scarring
Fine lines and wrinkles
Ageing, poor textured skin
Sun damaged skin
Enlarged pores
Stretch marks from pregnancy or weight loss.
An anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area prior to the procedure so you should feel minimal discomfort. The Dermaroller is then applied to your face multiple times to allow the micro fine needles to penetrate and stimulate the dermis. Immediately following the procedure you will be red and with some inflammation. This should subside significantly within the first few hours but you may experience some degree or redness for 2 – 3 days.
It will take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of skin rejuvenation can be seen in your skin, with continued improvement occurring over the following months. We recommend a top up treatment twice a year to continue the skin rejuvenation process.
Dermaroller is a suitable treatment for most people. However, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scaring, have active acne (of over 20% coverage) or taking Roaccutane we would not be able to perform this procedure. Other medications or illness may also be contra-indicated but these would be discussed during the consent and medical history process.
Dermaroller can be used alongside other procedures such as Botox, Dermal fillers, and chemical peels however a minim of 2 weeks should be left between procedures. We often use Dermaroller in conjunction with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).
Following the procedure you should avoid hot showers, saunas or exercise for 24 hours. You will need to use a high quality moisturiser and it is imperative that you use a high level SPF daily for at least 2 weeks following your procedure
